Orpheus & Eurydice

Orpheus & Eurydice is a penguin book cover design inspired by the Greek myth and main characters from the musical Hadestown. I took inspiration from the concept of the dragonfly and its symbolic meaning: joy, emotions, looking out for illusions and deceitful intentions, and connection with spirits and nature; along with matchsticks, which I associate with survival and hope.

I combined the image of the dragonfly and a matchstick to represent Orpheus and Eurydice respectfully and combined it into one unit, a matchstick with dragonfly wings in order to represent their relationship.
